When you need water treatment now — for a planned project, an unplanned outage, or a temporary capacity shortfall — Mueller Water rents mobile water treatment equipment across Texas. Our rental fleet includes water softeners from 100 to 500 GPM, reverse osmosis units from 10 to 260 GPM, activated carbon filters, sediment filtration, and full pretreatment skids. All equipment is in stock at our Houston facility, ready to ship, and deployable within days to anywhere in Texas.
Most rental customers come to us for one of four reasons: a permanent system is down for repair, a project needs water treatment that doesn’t justify capital purchase, peak demand is exceeding existing system capacity, or a new facility needs interim treatment while a permanent system is being built. We support all four, plus disaster response and emergency deployment.
Renting water treatment equipment is the right answer when capital purchase doesn’t fit the situation. Common scenarios:
System outages and repairs. Your permanent softener, RO, or filtration system is down for resin replacement, membrane service, vessel repair, or unexpected failure. Mobile rental equipment keeps production running while the permanent system is offline.
Construction and project water. New facility build-outs, plant expansions, and temporary construction sites need treated water for periods measured in months, not years. Renting is far more economical than purchasing equipment you’ll only need for a defined project.
Peak demand and seasonal load. If your operation has seasonal demand spikes — agricultural processing, peak production runs, summer cooling load — rental capacity bridges the gap without permanent oversizing.
Pilot testing and process trials. Evaluating whether DI water, RO water, or softened water improves a new process — rent the equipment for the trial, then commit to permanent installation based on real results.
Interim treatment during installation. New facilities or expansions where the permanent treatment system has a 16-week lead time — rent for the gap so production can start on schedule.
Emergency response and disaster relief. Hurricane impact, infrastructure failure, contamination events, or utility outages. Mueller maintains rental inventory specifically for rapid Texas emergency response.
Cost-effective alternative to capital purchase. Some operations simply prefer operating expense over capital. Rental converts a six-figure equipment decision into a predictable monthly cost.
What We Rent
Our rental fleet is built around the equipment Texas commercial and industrial customers actually need: pretreatment trains (carbon and softening), reverse osmosis, sediment and media filtration, and DI exchange tanks. Every unit is built by Mueller, maintained by Mueller, and supported by Mueller technicians across our four Texas locations. Browse the full rental equipment inventory with specifications →
Mobile Water Softener Rentals
Skid-mounted commercial and industrial water softener rentals from 100 GPM up to 500 GPM. Single-tank, twin-tank, and triplex configurations available for parallel or alternating operation. All units come pre-piped, pre-wired, and ready for 120VAC power and brine connection. Suitable for cooling tower makeup, boiler feed, process water, and condensate polishing applications.
Mobile Reverse Osmosis (RO) Rentals
RO rental skids from 10 GPM up to 260 GPM permeate flow. Larger units offer single-pass or double-pass operation for higher purity requirements. Pretreatment-included skids (softener + activated carbon + RO) are available for sites that need a complete turnkey treatment train. Skid-mounted construction for mobile deployment.
Activated Carbon Filtration Rentals
Granular activated carbon (GAC) filter rentals for chlorine and chloramine removal, taste and odor control, and organics reduction. Often deployed as pretreatment ahead of rental softeners or RO units, or as standalone treatment for dechlorination applications.
Pretreatment Skid Packages
Complete pretreatment trains combining sediment filtration, activated carbon, and water softening on a single skid — designed for projects that need a turnkey solution rather than individual components. Several configurations available depending on flow rate and target water quality.
DI Tank Exchange
For deionized water rental needs, our portable DI exchange program delivers pre-charged DI tanks on a service basis with regular exchange of exhausted tanks at our Houston regeneration facility. See DI Tank Exchange Services for details on configurations and applications.
Texas-Wide Service & Deployment
Mueller Water operates from four Texas locations — Houston headquarters, Austin (Pflugerville), San Antonio (Converse), and Dallas–Fort Worth (Grand Prairie). Our rental fleet is centralized at our Houston facility but routinely deployed across the state. Common deployment timelines:
Standard deployment: 1 to 3 business days from order confirmation to equipment on site, depending on configuration and shipping distance.
Emergency deployment: Same-day or next-day mobilization for true emergencies — system failures, contamination events, hurricane response.
Pre-staged equipment: For customers with anticipated outages (planned shutdowns, scheduled maintenance), rental equipment can be pre-staged on site before the outage begins.
Industries We Serve with Mobile Rentals
Industrial manufacturing — process water, cooling, parts washing, plating
Power & energy — boiler feedwater, cooling tower makeup, peak load
Refineries and petrochemical — process water, turnaround support
Food, beverage, and breweries — production water, RO for proofing
Pharmaceutical and life sciences — USP pre-treatment, validation periods
Construction and contractors — construction water, dewatering
Our rental fleet is in Houston, not in a distant warehouse. Equipment ships from Texas to Texas. Service technicians are local. Same-day emergency response is realistic in a way it isn’t with out-of-state rental providers.
Mueller-Built Equipment
Rental equipment is engineered, built, and maintained by Mueller — the same company that designs and installs permanent water treatment systems across Texas. You get equipment built to commercial quality standards, not pieced-together aftermarket components.
Pretreatment Included
Many of our RO rental skids include integrated pretreatment (softener and activated carbon) so you get a complete treatment train without coordinating multiple rental vendors. For specialty configurations, we can pair individual rental units to build whatever train your application needs.
Service & Support
Mueller technicians install rental equipment, train your operators, monitor performance, and handle any issues during the rental period. Routine service — media replacement, salt delivery, membrane maintenance — is included in standard rental agreements.
Flexible Terms
Daily, weekly, monthly, and long-term rental terms available. Rental-to-own conversion is available for customers who decide partway through a rental that they want to buy. We structure agreements to fit your project timeline rather than forcing your timeline to fit a standard contract.
