Ion Exchange - Separate Bed Systems
Mueller Water's Ion Exchange Separate Bed Systems are designed to deliver precise and effective removal of dissolved ions from water, providing high-purity water for a wide range of applications. These systems utilize separate vessels for cation and anion exchange, allowing for targeted ion removal and enhanced efficiency. Our Separate Bed Systems are built with all necessary piping, valves, fittings, and automatic controls, offering a comprehensive solution that integrates seamlessly into your existing water treatment processes.
How it Works
In a Separate Bed Ion Exchange System, water is treated through two distinct resin beds: one containing cation exchange resin and the other containing anion exchange resin. As water passes through the cation resin bed, positively charged ions (such as calcium, magnesium, and sodium) are exchanged for hydrogen ions. The water then flows through the anion resin bed, where negatively charged ions (such as chloride, sulfate, and nitrate) are exchanged for hydroxide ions. The combination of these two processes results in deionized water, with both cations and anions effectively removed. This system offers greater flexibility in targeting specific ions and allows for more efficient resin regeneration.
